Gone Country

I last photographed the Pollan family back in September of 2007. As you can see, a lot has changed since then. Mama's hair is shorter, Miss M is taller, they've added a new addition to the family (lil' Sugar Plum) and Daddy...well, Daddy hasn't changed much since then. :)

I posted a few of the girls in black and white on the Mother's Day post, but here's a few more....

Aren't they a beautiful family? This session was held on the ranch where they live and work. It's so nice and GREEN right now!

{One of my favorites of lil' Sugar Plum}

Now I ask you...who could resist a face like that??

Don't forget big sis, Miss M!

Aw...Daddy's girl

Sugar and spice and everything nice!
Happy Birthday to Mama Pollan who's turning 29 today (again)!! wink wink ;o)

Before I was a Mom {Ode to Mothers}

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on. Popped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do a test.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom.
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could be to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every ten minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much.

Senior: Cinda

By no means will I be the one to tell the rain to "go away," but it sure is wrecking havoc on my session schedule these days (that and its cousin, the 100 mph winds!). We cranked out a few shots for Cinda before it started raining, but we kept shooting. This was my first shoot in the rain & it actually wasn't half bad! The wetness really saturates the colors and I loved how it made the old truck look (see final photo). Besides, it'd really be hard to take a bad picture of Cinda!

I have taken pics of old trucks before, but this was a new model (so-to-speak). There is some speculation that it might have been Cinda's dad's old truck, but we weren't for sure. Either way, it's a good lookin' old clunker, isn't it? The rain really made it shine!

College Grads: Heather & Micah

Heather is a good friend of mine. Together, we survived our Mass Comm classes at SWOSU by leaning on each other, whining to each other and laughing at/with each other.

That would probably explain why I like this picture so much...it's Heather in her natural state: laughing! She has the best laugh...it's very contagious.

And yes, I know you're thinking it so just go ahead and say it...she has the best lips! Everyone envies those lips. You're not the first. ;)

I also got to meet Heather's sister, Micah. Micah is also graduating this semester from SWOSU. Their parents must be so relieved...I mean, PROUD! :)

Micah is a surgical tech (hence the awesome pinstriped scrubs). I wish I could handle the medical field but everyone knows that I can't even make it through one episode of ER without dry-heaving. Sad, but true!

Congratulations, ladies!!

May wherever life leads you be filled with happiness and laughter!!

(P.S. Stop by tomorrow to see the many ridiculous faces of Heather)

Wonderous Wade

Little Wade is a very talented boy. At only two months old he can....

...enjoy a good joke and crack a smile (or a smirk)...

..charm adults with his every move (especially his Mama & Daddy), ...

recite his multiplication tables in his head (at least, that's what I think he was doing--I may be wrong--and he's not even using his fingers!), ...

...and he's already getting ready for baseball season.
That is, unless Daddy can get a football into his hands soon. :)

Senior: Melissa

Meet Melissa...another beautiful senior girl from Elk City.

Yes, it may be windy here, but you just can't beat a sunset in western Oklahoma. Natives that have moved away always talk about how much they miss seeing them.

This shot's for you, Melissa!

By the sneek peek I've collected here, you might think Melissa's quiet and somewhat serious, but she's really pretty spunky and full of smiles. My favs just happened to be the ones where she was doing "the somber look."

...like this one. Love that profile against the blooming bushes. Take a good look...these are the same blooming bushes that might not survive the blizzard-like conditions rolling into the area today. :(

Thanks, Melissa! Hope you enjoy your senior pictures!

Senior: Shana

Senior girls just keep getting prettier and prettier. I'm telling you, there must be something in the Oklahoma water! ;)

Shana brought along her favorite prop: her boyfriend, Mike! I always encourage seniors to bring special things to incorportate into their sessions whether it be a Harley Davidson, a puppy or a special person.

A little something in black and white....

...and a little something different--the antiqued look, I suppose.

No one is happier than I to see bushes and trees in full bloom. Now, if we can just get the grass to grow!

Enjoy your senior pictures, Shana!

Callie Mae

Miss Callie Mae just turned one! It's hard to believe it, because she used to be a tiny tot that looked like THIS and THIS...

Now, she's doing all sorts of "big girl" things like walking, feeding herself, calling all her gal-pals on the telephone...

It's a good thing I like the serious look because Callie is kind of a serious girl.
She was even more serious on this weekend because she had been feeling kind of crummy.

I thought the catchlights in her eyes looked strange, so I zoomed in...

...and found her Mama in the reflection.

And we couldn't close without one of big sis, Sophie, who is also growing like a weed!

Did You Miss Me? (+ A Special!)

Man, it has been a looooooong time since I've blogged. So sorry! Generally, I take January off and get back in the swing of things during February, but instead I've had my nose in....

...books. Lots and lots of books!

In December, I graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a B.A. in Mass Communication (journalism). Yay, me! Then suddenly, and kind of unexpectedly, I found myself enrolling in graduate school! I'm really loving it because I was able to focus on writing and technology with my undergrad degree, and my graduate studies allows me focus on reading (I'm in the Library and Media Specialist program at East Central University). These are all things I love most (photography falls under "technology," of course).

Sooooo....here I am, trying to be a good blogger and get back into the swing of things. Yes, sessions are still available. In fact, I'm going to get things started with a special!

Sitting fees for March photo sessions are half-price!*

*Limited to availability. Monday-Friday sessions only.
