Our Giant Nightlight
This is what I see when I look out my back window these days. I literally took this picture while standing on my back porch and I did not zoom!
For you folks who "aren't from around these parts," this is one of the many oil wells we are drilling in western Oklahoma. The difference is, most are out in random fields, far from civilization and this one is literally on my back porch. We now have a nice constant humming sound to listen to (it really is nice; helps me sleep at night; sounds like interstate traffic which I've always lived near during the past few years of my life). However, the reason I'm posting a blog entry at 5 a.m. is because they started some kind of racket (drilling, maybe?) in the wee hours of the morning & I've been unable to get back to sleep.
But if they can bring us some relief at the gas pump, I'l just buy a nice pair of ear plugs! :)

Yep, beautiful inside and out.

Birthday Bowling
Today is my daughter's birthday! HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY, H!!!
As is tradition for all elementary-aged school girls, we held a slumber party this weekend in honor of her special day. But before the slumbering commenced, we headed out for some pizza & bowling.
Mom had a little fun going "old school" on the pics. Lots of grain + tinted/muted colors = fun!
Here's the birthday girl...
...her pals...
VICTORY!
And since we're "keeping it real" here in blog world, I will show you the annual "thorn in my side:" the birthday cake.
We started a tradition of baking b-day cakes in the shape of a number a few years back when Nana found some cool number cake forms on sale.
I wish I had never started. For me, anyway, it has turned into the annual "I wonder how ugly this year's cake will be?" tradition.
I can do many things, but cake decorating is not one of them, I'm sad to say. (And it really bothers me that I can't master it).
Just in case you are wondering, these are supposed to be little girls in sleeping bags (sleepover, remember?). A much cuter, less pitiful version can be found HERE

Baby in Bloom!
Even though the weather has recently tried to deny it, it IS spring, and babies are in full bloom here at Four Seasons Photography.
Meet Kya! This adorable little chunky cherub would make Anne Gedes smile!
I can think of a handful (or two) of people in Leedey, Oklahoma that she can make smile, too!
Interested in portraits of your very own flower baby? Stay tuned....there will be special sessions available in Woodward, OK soon. More details to come!

I'm Dreaming of a White.....Easter?
As we got dressed in our Sunday best and left for church this morning, this is what was awaiting outside:
Yep, that's snow! Big ol' white flakes to coordinate with our white strappy sandals--lol! :)
There was snow and frigid temperatures all weekend, but it didn't stop our Easter fun.
We dyed eggs, visited family, ate a wonderful meal and participated in several egg hunts. But above all, we remembered the reason for the day...
....the empty tomb!
Happy Easter from our family to yours!

No Pink In Sight!
I thought I'd never see the day when this kid wore purple or aqua or ANYTHING other than pink! For the first 12 months of her life, she never owned a single outfit that was not pink! In fact, I specifically remember a time when her Daddy brought home a pretty little yellow sleeper, but Mom promptly had him return it for a refund or a pink one! :)
So, imagine my surprise when she shows up for her 18 month session in a beautiful white and PURPLE dress!

But isn't she a little beauty?
She looks likes the sweetest little girl ever...
...but don't let appearances be deceiving! Look at those mischievous eyes!
Aw, who am I kidding? She is pretty sweet. :)

Getting Back to My Roots (Literally)
I've given up up on blonde.
You see, I USED to be a lass with golden locks...but that was a long time ago. *sigh* After battling the brown with a bottle of dye, I have given in & gone back to my roots....
Here I am in all my newfound brunetteness (photo compliments of 7 y/o photographer, Hannah):
