Book Now For Spring!

Can you smell it in the air? Spring is coming! YAY!!!

Signs that spring is almost here:

1--We "spring forward" this weekend.
2--Easter is only a few short weeks away!
3--I spotted a bush blooming with little yellow flowers all over (though nowhere near as cute as the little yellow bloom in the portrait above)!

So, what is the point of this rambling? BOOK NOW FOR SPRING SESSIONS!

Whether you are a last-minue senior, a mommy who only wants photos of her angels for Mother's Day or a family who has been putting off a family portraits for a while, today's the day to call and book a session. Spring is usually a very busy season, so don't delay!

A Sad Day in Photography World

Today I heard that Polaroid will no longer be producing its famous instant "Polaroid" film. How sad!! Polaroids are as American as apple pie, if you ask me. With the dawn of digital photography, "old school" photography has been experiencing quite a revival, Polaroids included.

Someone on the radio mentioned how Polaroids had been useful on mission trips and humanitarian efforts in third-world areas where there was no local photo lab to run to. Many villagers in these types of areas may have never had a photograph of themselves, their children or family members had it not been for an outsider with a Polaroid camera. That just makes me sad to think that such a useful tool will be no more!

The Polaroid Company is, for the record, hoping someone will buy the license for the technology and produce it on someone else's dime, so there's hope yet. But the moral of the story is, if you have a Polaroid camera, go stock up on film! It will only be available for one more year.

Sick of Being Sick

Anyone else sick of being sick? This has been the WORST winter for flu and general yuckiness. After fighting my latest go-around for 6 days, I finally hauled myself to the doctor and now I'm on the speed boat to recovery (at last!). So maybe I can get some things done now--Yay! Hope you all are staying germ-free!

Callie @ Day Four

Callie is the youngest client that I have photographed to date. She was "fresh from the oven" at only four days old in these portraits. It was my plan to get her used to camera gear and bright flashes of light from the get-go. She's my niece, so she might as well come to terms with the fact that Aunt Meggie will always be lurking with a camera in tow!

On Location with Miss C, Part One

Remember the outtakes from Miss C's senior session? Well, here's the final result of all our on-location madness!

Miss C already had her locations in mind when she called me and I was totally psyched about her ideas...not to mention we had a lot of fun! So without further ado, enjoy a few of Miss C's senior portraits:

Can you get any cooler than this sweet ride?

I think she looks like a glamourous Hollywood star from the 30's in this one. It reminds me of an old portrait I've seen but I can't remember who it was....

I was a little concerned about privacy issues with the license plate, so I customized it!
("SNR 008")

The sky was SO blue that day. Loved it!

Yet another sweet ride! I think she could totally be a Harley girl! :)

Another one of the great locations she had selected (name blurred for web viewing) ...

...and one I spotted along the way.

Okay
, so I shared more than a few....but guess what? I have even MORE to share! Come back for part two tomorrow!

Speaking of Heartstrings....

Here's an image that tugs on mine! This is my dad holding the newest member of the family (my niece, Callie) and my youngest daughter. My sister lives in an old Victorian house and the sunlight was pouring through the stained-glass window and illuminating the three of them. I love it!

Don't forget...only 2 more days to vote in the Heartstrings Contest! (Scroll down to vote!)

Outtakes

Who says you can't have a great on-location photo shoot in February? Yesterday, I met up with Miss C for a fun and fabulous senior session. We visited a variety of locations that often involved, climbing on piles of twisted metal, squeezing through barbed-wire fences, and dangling over pools of water. Here are some of the outtakes from the day:

Just another day at the the junk yard! Miss C & mom checked with the owner to make sure that we could borrow his junk for the shoot. He'd never gotten that request before but was happy to share...he was just glad someone loved his junk as much as he did!

A friend of the family let us borrow his beautifully restored cars and trucks (and a Harley, too!) for a bit. I joked with Miss C that she brought her very own pit crew! (Here, her sister is doing a little make-up touch-up).

Miss C had to scoot across the length of the limb that is dangling over the water (in her pointy-toed alligator skin boots, no less!). I told her I saw something similiar on Man Vs. Wild once (minus the fashionable footwear).

Photography is fun...and dangerous {lol}!
